MINIBUS CRASH ON THE N1
The MEC for Transport, Violet Mathye, stated that a tyre burst is a possible cause of the accident.
“The quantum was carrying 27 passengers which was far above the required number. A tyre burst is a possible cause of the accident which could have led the driver to lose control, resulting in the vehicle overturning,” said Mathye.
The driver and 11 passengers who sustained minor injuries were taken to local hospitals for medical treatment.
“We wish the injured a speedy recovery. Our thoughts are with those affected by this tragedy,” said Mathye.
Motorists are advised to exercise caution and be prepared for possible delays as rescue and recovery efforts continue in the area.
