The Moses Kotane Research Institute (MKRI) has opened applications for Experiential Learner: Monitoring & Evaluation Officer positions for 2026, offering young graduates an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in data analysis, reporting, and performance monitoring within a public research institution.

About the Moses Kotane Research Institute

The Moses Kotane Research Institute is mandated to stimulate a sustainable provincial economy through research, development, and innovation. The institute also leads strategic innovation and maritime coordination initiatives to respond to the evolving needs of the KwaZulu-Natal economy.

As MKRI continues to expand its research and reporting functions, these experiential learner roles will support the management of growing data volumes, improved reporting processes, and the delivery of actionable performance insights.


Minimum Requirements

To be considered for this opportunity, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • NQF Level 6 qualification in Commerce or a related field
  • No work experience required
  • Basic computer literacy
  • Strong interest in data collection and analysis
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Driver’s licence will be an added advantage

Key Responsibilities

The Experiential Learners will support MKRI’s Monitoring and Evaluation function by:

  • Assisting in the development of M&E templates to track project inputs, activities, and outputs
  • Monitoring project activities, expenditure, and progress against planned outputs
  • Conducting site visits to verify reported data and ensure accuracy
  • Requesting inputs for monthly, quarterly, and annual reports
  • Analysing data to identify trends, challenges, and lessons learned
  • Providing administrative support, including scheduling, minute-taking, and filing during M&E activities
