The Sunday, 11 January episode of Carte Blanche investigates allegations of an elaborate accommodation scam in the Western Cape.
A businessman is accused of swindling property owners out of large sums by marketing so-called luxury accommodation for contractors seconded to Koeberg Power Station.
The scheme reportedly involves five-star promises, “lucky packets” and premium bedding, while contractors allegedly receive kickbacks to favour his services over rival suppliers.
As contractors cash in on inflated accommodation costs, property owners are allegedly left out of pocket, raising serious questions about corruption, exploitation and oversight in the system.
