About the Discovery Internship Programme
The Discovery Internship Programme is a structured development programme that offers unemployed graduates the opportunity to gain hands-on, on-the-job experience in a professional corporate environment.
Since its launch in 2006, the programme has supported the development of more than 480 graduates, with approximately 71% securing permanent roles after completion. Interns work alongside high-performing teams and develop the skills needed to succeed in fast-paced financial services environments.
For 2026, interns will gain exposure within the Group Life Operations environment, supporting critical administrative and operational functions such as underwriting processes, GEP administration, claims, billing, disability management, and back-office operations.
Available Internship Opportunities and Requirements
Internship Programme – Group Life
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Matric / Grade 12 (essential)
- BCom Degree or Honours
- No work experience required (essential)
- Age: Between 18 and 30 years
- Must be a South African citizen by birth or naturalisation before 27 April 1994
Internship – Service Consultant
Minimum requirements include:
- Matric / Grade 12 (essential)
- Minimum 2 years Call Centre experience
- Minimum 1 year experience within the financial services industry
- Working experience within a Linked Investment Service Provider (LISP) will be advantageous
- Related BCom degree will be advantageous
- Computer literacy: Proficient in MS Office (essential)
Internship – Servicing Administrator
Applicants must have:
- Matric, with a minimum of 2 years LISP experience
- Knowledge of the Long-Term Insurance Act
- Knowledge of the Pension Fund Act, including Section 50 and Section 14 transfers
- Understanding of retirement products
- Proven LISP administration experience
