Cape Gate (Pty) Ltd invites eligible students to apply for the Cape Gate Isaac Joffe Fellowship Bursary Programme for the 2026 academic year.

Fields of study funded
The bursary will be awarded for undergraduate BEng degrees in the following engineering disciplines:
- Electrical Engineering
- Electronic Engineering
- Mechatronics Engineering
- Metallurgical Engineering
What the Cape Gate bursary covers
The Cape Gate Isaac Joffe Fellowship Bursary provides comprehensive funding, including:
- Registration fees
- Tuition fees
- Book allowance
- Once-off computer allowance
- Personal allowance
- Accommodation in residence and meals or a living allowance if residing off-campus
Duration and renewal
- Bursaries are awarded for one year at a time
- Renewable annually, subject to satisfactory academic performance
- Funding is limited to the normal duration of the degree
Shortlisted applicants will be notified in writing and required to attend an interview. Final selection outcomes will be communicated by 31 January 2026. If no feedback is received by this date, consider the application unsuccessful.
Obligations of bursary recipients
- Participate in paid vacation work at Cape Gate during the December and January holidays
- After graduation, recipients must work for Cape Gate for a period equal to the bursary funding received, at market-related remuneration (company discretion)
- Failure to meet the work-back obligation will require repayment of all bursary funds plus interest
Eligibility requirements
Applicants must meet all of the following criteria:
- Currently in Matric or have completed Matric
- Studying or intending to study full-time towards a BEng degree in one of the listed fields
- Entering 1st or 2nd year of study in 2026
- Studying or intending to study at a recognised and accredited South African university
- Strong academic record
- Proven financial need
- Not receiving any other bursary or financial assistance
