Rassie Erasmus joins the public for a Christmas morning walk – WATCH

Springbok coach Rassie Erasmus joined the public on a Christmas morning walk, starting and finishing at Doodles Beachfront Restaurant in Bloubergstrand on Thursday.

This follows the success of his first fan ‘meet and greet’ last Christmas.

Posting on his X account earlier in the month, Erasmus had shared an open invitation to the public to join him on his now annual Christmas morning walk.

The community event – a 6km walk along the Blouberg promenade in Cape Town – started at 06:00.

He posted: “Love the reactions and excitement about the Chrismas (sic) walk! Can’t wait! Ton confirm, it’s a 6km casual stroll starting at 6am sharp on X-mas day (3km in and 3km out) for everyone who wants to join from near and far. This is to thank you for your passionate support and the way you carry us. Julle weet nie wat ons weet nie.”

Rugby Championship title

In 2025, Erasmus led the Springboks to the Rugby Championship title and a clean sweep of the Springboks’ five-match end-of-year tour to Europe.

The Springboks ended the year No 1 in the World Rugby rankings.

Erasmus has now coached the Springboks in 53 Tests, one shy of the all-time record held by Jake White.

Of those 53 Tests, Erasmus has won 40, lost 12 and drawn one, for a win percentage of 75%.

No other Springbok coach has won more matches.

In his playing days, Erasmus earned 36 Test caps, scoring seven tries in the green and gold jersey.
