The man accused of the premeditated murder of popular broadcaster and personality DJ Warras appeared briefly in court on Wednesday, where it was confirmed he will remain behind bars through the festive season.
The suspect, Victor Mthethwa Majola, faces charges relating to the fatal shooting of the 40-year-old DJ, born Warwick Stock, on 16 December.
The case has been postponed until 6 January 2026 for a formal bail hearing, which the state has already declared its intention to oppose.
DJ Warras was killed outside a building in central Johannesburg while reportedly working in a private security capacity during an eviction at a hijacked property.
Following the tragedy, friends and family gathered on 23 December to lay him to rest, sharing moving tributes to a man remembered for his bold charisma and significant contribution to the South African media landscape.
While the police continue to probe the circumstances surrounding the shooting, investigators are looking into potential links between the attack and organised inner-city crime syndicates.
The incident has sparked a wave of tributes and calls for justice across social media, highlighting growing concerns over the safety of those operating in Johannesburg’s more volatile districts.
