The South African Police Service (SAPS) has confirmed that two individuals have been taken in for questioning following the murder of Warrick “DJ Warras” Stock.
This comes after National Police Commissioner Fannie Masemola announced on Friday, 19 December 2025, during Safer Festive Season operations in Pretoria, that a suspect had been identified and would be arrested before Monday, 22 December 2025.
Speaking to the media today, police spokesperson Athlenda Mathe confirmed that, under the leadership of Lieutenant General Tommy Mthombeni, Gauteng police took two people in for questioning.
“We can confirm that Gauteng police, led by Lieutenant General Mthombeni, have taken in two people for questioning. We have not yet arrested. It’s questioning this morning. They are being questioned by our detectives, and they will then provide us with an update on whether they will make the necessary arrests and so on, but for now, I can confirm that two people have been taken in for questioning on the DJ Warras case.”
“So I think all credit, kudos must be given to Gauteng police for working extra hard, they are under pressure, and I think they’ve put in and they’ve mobilised resources,” Mathe said.
Stock was shot and killed in a suspected targeted hit in broad daylight in the Johannesburg CBD on Tuesday, 16 December 2025.
The broadcaster and TV personality had obtained multiple protection orders after receiving threats from several individuals, likely linked to his work inspecting illegally occupied “hijacked” buildings through his security company.
His memorial service was held at The Galleria in Marlboro, Sandton, on Friday, 19 December 2025. Funeral arrangements are yet to be announced.
