Stormy skies ahead: Wet weekend for parts of SA

Here’s what the skies have in store for you on Saturday, 20 December, and Sunday, 21 December in the North West, KwaZulu-Natal, and the Free State.

NORTH WEST

A wet weekend is expected in the province. It will be partly cloudy and warm, with scattered showers and thundershowers, becoming isolated in the east.

MAHIKENG

In the North West’s capital city, the weekend will be partly cloudy with scattered showers and thundershowers. On Saturday, you can expect a minimum of 18°C and a maximum of 27°C. On Sunday, temperatures will range between 19°C and 26°C.

KWAZULU-NATAL

On Saturday, it will be cloudy with isolated showers and thundershowers in the west and central interior of KZN. A Yellow Level 4 Warning has been issued for severe thunderstorms, which may lead to heavy downpours resulting in flooding, excessive lightning, strong and damaging winds, and large amounts of hail over populated areas.

DURBAN

On Saturday, in KZN’s largest city, it will be partly cloudy with isolated showers and thundershowers. Temperatures will range from 21°C to 26°C. On Sunday, slight rain is expected, with temperatures ranging from 21°C to 26°C.

FREE STATE

The province can expect partly cloudy conditions, warm to hot weather, and scattered showers and thundershowers, becoming isolated in the north over the weekend.

BLOEMFONTEIN

In Bloem, Saturday will bring isolated showers and thundershowers, with a minimum of 17°C and a maximum of 29°C. On Sunday, similar conditions are expected, with a high of 30°C.
