- A separate nightclub was also ordered to close due to serious non-compliance with municipal by-laws.
If you were planning on spending time at a brothel or one of the inner-city dancing clubs in Pretoria, you may need to rethink your plans.
City of Tshwane officials embarked on a late-night operation on Thursday to clamp down on brothels and clubs operating in violation of municipal by-laws.
The operation comes just weeks after Tshwane Mayor Nasiphi Moya shut down the infamous Iphi Ntombi brothel following allegations of prostitution and human trafficking.
Moya said the City remains determined to close all illegal brothels operating in the Pretoria CBD.
During Thursday night’s raid, officials uncovered an accommodation facility known as @368 in the CBD, which allegedly had a similar setup to previously closed brothels and was reportedly operated by illegal Chinese nationals.
Six foreign nationals found inside the bar and brothel were arrested on the spot.
“What we have realised is that this is a cartel of Chinese nationals running brothels. In front, it looks like a bar with an entertainment area downstairs, similar to Iphi Ntombi. But outside, there is a separate building with about 30 rooms used to accommodate prostitutes,” said Moya.
She added that the same group is believed to own at least six brothels in the city.

In a separate incident, a nightclub owned by a Nigerian national was also issued with a formal notice of closure due to serious non-compliance with city regulations.
