The Eastern Cape stands out as one of the provinces likely to experience widespread showers, particularly along coastal and eastern areas. Forecasts indicate persistent rainfall, with some regions experiencing heavy downpours associated with severe thunderstorm activity.
Forecaster Phemelo Zonke confirmed that “significant rainfall is expected in eastern parts of the country,” noting that the Eastern Cape remains under close observation due to its exposure to prolonged wet conditions.
Safety warnings for coastal areas in the Eastern Cape
Coastal roads may become slippery, and strong winds associated with thunderstorms could worsen driving conditions. Residents have been urged to remain cautious, especially in low-lying areas where water accumulation may occur.
“Drivers are urged to take caution on coastal roads due to wet conditions,” Zonke said, adding that maintaining safe following distances is critical during heavy rain.
Temperatures and coming days
Despite the rainfall, temperatures will remain moderate, with cooler overnight lows and warm daytime conditions.
The weekend outlook indicates continued chances of showers and thundershowers, interspersed with intermittent sunny spells.
Authorities continue to emphasise preparedness as weather systems persist.
