Cape Town has once again secured its place on the global travel map after earning top recognition from two major international publications this year.
Both Travel and Leisure Asia and US News & World Report have ranked the city among the world’s leading destinations, citing its natural beauty, cultural diversity and wide range of experiences on offer.
The announcements come just as the festive season begins, a peak period for tourism in the Mother City.
Cape Town named among the world’s top travel destinations
According to the City, Cape Town received two key international recognitions. These were:
- Travel and Leisure Asia – India’s Best Awards 2025
- Cape Town was nominated in three categories:
- Best Beach Destination
- Best City Destination
- Best Adventure Destination
- The Mother City was also awarded Editor’s Choice: Best City (International Category)
- Cape Town was nominated in three categories:
- US News & World Report – Best Vacations List
- Ranked 5th Best Place to Visit in Africa
- Received a Gold Award Badge of Excellence
- Praised for its scenery, beaches, Constantia Valley wine region and Simon’s Town penguin colony
City officials say the recognition reflects ongoing efforts to grow tourism through targeted international marketing and partnerships, including recent engagement with the Indian travel market.
“We are honoured that these awards have recognised Cape Town, which underscores our commitment to creating a world-class city. It also shows that the messages encompassed in the City of Cape Town’s international marketing campaigns are communicating with travellers across the world, who then visit the City, creating jobs in tourism and stimulating the local economy,” said the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Economic Growth, Alderman James Vos.
