Brooke and Jackson Warne are reportedly playing matchmaker for their mother, Simone Callahan, with Coldplay frontman Chris Martin emerging as a potential suitor.
According to the Daily Mail, the children of late cricket great Shane Warne would “love” to see Simone, 55, find happiness with the British singer following his recent split from actress Dakota Johnson.
London concerts
The claims follow Simone and her children – Brooke, 28, Jackson, 26, and Summer, 24 – attending Coldplay’s recent London concerts, where they were seated front and centre.
Simone later shared photos on Instagram, including a backstage image at Wembley Stadium featuring herself, Brooke, Jackson, Jackson’s girlfriend Kiah Broadsmith, 24, and Martin.
Chris Martin and Shane Warne were close friends for more than two decades before Warne’s death in 2022.
A source told the publication that Martin has remained a supportive presence in the family’s life.
“Chris has been looking out for them,” the source said.
“Whenever there’s an opportunity to see them or have them at his shows, he makes it happen.”
‘Lights up’
The publication further claims Brooke, Jackson and Summer have joked about setting their mother up with Martin, noting how she appears around him.
“They’ve seen how Simone lights up when she’s around Chris, so they’d love to see her happy again with a good bloke like him,” the source said, adding that the siblings believe their late father would approve.
Shane Warne and Simone Callahan first separated in 2005, briefly reconciled in 2009 and parted ways permanently in 2010.
‘Closest friends’
In a 2021 interview with Men’s Health, Warne described Martin as one of his closest friends, saying their bond was built on honesty and a lack of judgment.
Martin performed a moving rendition of Yellow at Warne’s funeral in 2022 and has continued to honour his late friend.
During Coldplay’s recent Australian tour, the band paid tribute again at their opening Melbourne show by dedicating Sparks to the cricket icon.
Warne died in March 2022 at the age of 52 from a suspected heart attack while holidaying in Thailand.
