RIP DJ Warras: Mashaba links murder to fighting crime in Jhb CBD

ActionSA president Herman Mashaba has reacted to the murder of TV host and DJ Warrick Stock, popularly known as DJ Warras, who was shot dead in the Johannesburg CBD on Tuesday 16 December.

ActionSA president Herman Mashaba described the murder of DJ Warras as a brutal attack on those standing up against crime in the inner city of Johannesburg. The 40-year-old TV host was shot four times in the Johannesburg CBD on Tuesday 16 December. The fatal shooting took place in broad day light.

CCTV footage reportedly showed a man with dreadlocks opening fire on DJ Warras. The footage shows the suspect approaching DJ Warras as he was leaving Zambesi House in Johannesburg’s CBD and opening fire before attempting to flee.

Mashaba condemned the murder of DJ Warras, as revealed in his statement on the ActionSA page, stating “with reports indicating that he was actively involved in tackling the rampant criminality across hijacked buildings in Johannesburg’s CBD at the time of his murder.”

MASHABA: ‘NO REGARD FOR HUMAN LIFE’

The ActionSA president stated that the criminals responsible have “no regard” for human life and have “declared war” on law-abiding South Africans.

“ActionSA believes that the criminal thugs responsible, who have no regard for human life, have declared war on law-abiding South Africans, particularly those who stand up against crime and work to reclaim our communities from these destructive elements,” read the statement.

:If the thugs behind his assassination believe they have stopped the fight to reclaim Johannesburg’s inner city, they are gravely mistaken. All they have done is make it clear to patriotic, law-abiding citizens that we must step up and fight back,” as per the statement.

“To DJ Warras’ family and friends, ActionSA extends its deepest condolences and strength during this devastating time,” as per the statement.
