Real Housewives of Atlanta star Kandi Burruss uses show footage in divorce fight

Reality star famous for her role in The Real Housewives of Atlanta, Kandi Burruss, is embroiled in a fight of her life in the divorce from her husband of 11 years, Todd Tucker. The couple have four children between them, one daughter each from previous relationships, and two small children together.

The pair got married in a five-episode TV special Kandi’s Wedding, which followed the couple in the run-up to and on the day of their wedding. In the show, we see Tucker meeting with Kandi’s lawyer and agreeing to sign a prenup on the day of the wedding, clearly stating that he went against his own lawyer’s advice not to sign the prenup.

Burruss filed for divorce in November, prompting Tucker to issue a response to the divorce petition, stating that the two children are with him in Georgia, while Burruss is handling “out-of-state work obligations”.

US Weekly reports that the singer is using footage from Bravo as evidence after Tucker’s allegations that he was asked to sign the prenuptial agreement without his lawyer present.

Now that the couple is moving towards divorce, Tucker is seeking primary custody of their children, as well as for the prenup to be set aside, as reported by US Weekly.

Burruss learns husband was talking to other women

According to People.com, a source confirmed that Burruss learnt that her husband had been talking to other women behind her back. She later shared that she was going through an emotional rollercoaster in this difficult time, “I’m going to be very honest with you. I am up and down,” Burruss said. It is not clear if this is the reason for the divorce.

Rocky start to their love story

The couple’s marriage was on display on The Real Housewives of Atlanta from the beginning, with Kandi’s mother’s distrust for Tucker being front and centre of their storyline in the beginning. Mama Joyce always voiced that Tucker had a lot to gain by being with her daughter than he was offering her.

Burruss’s rise to fame

Kandi Burruss began her entertainment career as a member of the R&B group, Xscape, which was signed under Jermaine Dupri’s So So Def label. Dupri wrote and produced the group’s music, notably their first hit Just Kicking It, which catapulted the four-member group into stardom in 1993.
