Available Apprenticeship Fields

Moolmans is recruiting for the following apprenticeship opportunities:

1. Auto Electrician Apprentice

2. Earthmoving Equipment Apprentice

Both fields offer hands-on training, technical learning, and work exposure at a fast-paced mining environment.


Key Responsibilities

Earthmoving Equipment Apprenticeship

As an apprentice, you will assist qualified artisans in tasks such as:

  • Diagnosing machine faults
  • Conducting repairs on earthmoving machinery
  • Performing preventative maintenance
  • Completing minor and major services
  • Reporting breakdowns to management
  • Completing daily and weekly inspection sheets
  • Ordering spares
  • Monitoring equipment efficiencies
  • Supporting productivity improvement plans
  • Coordinating servicing of machines and plant
  • Ensuring compliance with safety, health, environment & quality (SHEQ) standards

Auto Electrician Apprenticeship

Duties include assisting artisans with:

  • Diagnosing and repairing electrical faults on earthmoving equipment
  • Inspecting and testing electrical systems (lights, warning systems, computers)
  • Analysing fault codes using diagnostic software
  • Performing wiring, starter, and alternator repairs
  • Logging unresolved faults and reporting to the Plant Foreman
  • Ordering electrical spares
  • Conducting planned electrical maintenance
  • Following up urgently on electrical breakdowns
  • Ensuring compliance with safety, health, environment & quality procedures

Minimum Requirements

To qualify, applicants must meet the following academic criteria:

General Requirements

  • Grade 12 (Matric) with Mathematics, Physical Science, and Technical Drawing

N2 Subjects (Advantageous)

Earthmoving Equipment Apprenticeship:

  • Mathematics
  • Engineering Science
  • Diesel Trade Theory

Auto Electrician Apprenticeship:

  • Mathematics
  • Engineering Science
  • Auto Electrical Trade Theory
