1. Auto Electrician Apprentice
2. Earthmoving Equipment Apprentice
Both fields offer hands-on training, technical learning, and work exposure at a fast-paced mining environment.
Key Responsibilities
Earthmoving Equipment Apprenticeship
As an apprentice, you will assist qualified artisans in tasks such as:
- Diagnosing machine faults
- Conducting repairs on earthmoving machinery
- Performing preventative maintenance
- Completing minor and major services
- Reporting breakdowns to management
- Completing daily and weekly inspection sheets
- Ordering spares
- Monitoring equipment efficiencies
- Supporting productivity improvement plans
- Coordinating servicing of machines and plant
- Ensuring compliance with safety, health, environment & quality (SHEQ) standards
Auto Electrician Apprenticeship
Duties include assisting artisans with:
- Diagnosing and repairing electrical faults on earthmoving equipment
- Inspecting and testing electrical systems (lights, warning systems, computers)
- Analysing fault codes using diagnostic software
- Performing wiring, starter, and alternator repairs
- Logging unresolved faults and reporting to the Plant Foreman
- Ordering electrical spares
- Conducting planned electrical maintenance
- Following up urgently on electrical breakdowns
- Ensuring compliance with safety, health, environment & quality procedures
Minimum Requirements
To qualify, applicants must meet the following academic criteria:
General Requirements
- Grade 12 (Matric) with Mathematics, Physical Science, and Technical Drawing
N2 Subjects (Advantageous)
Earthmoving Equipment Apprenticeship:
- Mathematics
- Engineering Science
- Diesel Trade Theory
Auto Electrician Apprenticeship:
- Mathematics
- Engineering Science
- Auto Electrical Trade Theory
