Renowned church leader of the International Pentecostal Holiness Church in Brits, Mike Sandlana, will be spending Christmas and the entire festive season behind bars.
Sandlana appeared before the Pretoria Commercialised Crimes Court on Wednesday, where his bail application was postponed to March 2026.
He was arrested last month alongside Pretoria Magistrates Court Judge Portia Phahlane for allegations of corruption involving attempts to influence a civil case currently before the Pretoria High Court.
His lawyers may, however, bring an urgent bail application before the set date.
Sandlana’s defence team further told the court that they have not gathered all the necessary facts to bring forward a formal bail application.
Hundreds of members of the church gathered outside the court in hopes of seeing their leader released from custody.
High Court Judge Portia Phahlane and two other co-accused have since been released on bail.
