  • Two of Katiso Molefe’s bodyguards were arrested outside the Alexandra Magistrates’ Court for possessing illegal AKM rifles.
  • The case against Molefe and his co-accused has been transferred to the Johannesburg High Court.
  • Molefe and his alleged hitmen have been linked to firearms used in at least 18 murders and attempted murders.

Two bodyguards between the ages of 24 and 36 have been arrested outside the Alexandra Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday.

This comes after the duo was found in possession of two semi-automatic AKM rifles and ammunition without valid permits.

They are both believed to have been escorting corruption-accused businessman Katiso KT Molefe, who appeared before the court earlier.

National police spokesperson Athlenda Mathe says the vehicle transporting the bodyguards was also seized after the license disk did not correspond with the registration number plates.

Meanwhile, the case against Molefe and his co-accused has been transferred to the High Court in Johannesburg, following the successful centralisation of the case faced by the group.

This simply means that all the cases that Katiso Molefe and his co-accused face will now be heard in the Johannesburg High Court in February 2026.

Molefe and his alleged hitmen have been linked by forensic evidence to firearms used in serious crimes, including 18 murders and attempted murders.

These include the murder of Vereeniging engineer, Armand Swart, musicians Oupa Sefoka and Hector Buthelezi, popularly known as DJ Sumbody and DJ Vintos respectively.

Molefe’s alleged hitmen Pule Tau, Musa Kekana and Tiego Mabusela will remain in custody until their next court appearance.

Molefe was released from prison on R400 000 bail earlier this year, following his arrest at his Santon mansion for allegedly orchestrating the 2022 murder of DJ Sumbody.
