WEATHER: Here’s what to expect from the skies

Wednesday, 3 December, is shaping up to be a rather dull and cloudy day for most parts of KwaZulu-Natal, the Free State, and the North West. If you were hoping for sunshine this summer, you may need to wait a little longer as the weather is sticking to a cooler, wetter mood.

KWAZULU-NATAL

KwaZulu-Natal will see plenty of cloud cover, with only the extreme western areas catching a bit of a break. Most of the province will stay cool to cold, and showers and thundershowers are expected throughout the day. Along the eastern side, that rain becomes even more widespread, so it’s definitely a day to keep your raincoat close.

DURBAN

Over in Durban, residents can expect a classic stormy summer’s day. Thick cloud cover, steady showers, and regular rumbles of thunder will dominate the day. It will be rather cool with temperatures between 19°C and 21°C.

NORTH WEST

In the North West, your day will start off partly cloudy and hot, but the calm won’t last long. From early afternoon, scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop

MAHIKENG

In Mahikeng, temperatures will climb to a warm 32°C after a mild start at 16°C, but the heat could be interrupted by isolated afternoon thunderstorms drifting across the area.

FREE STATE

The Free State will wake up to patches of fog in the east, and as the fog lifts, most areas will settle into partly cloudy and cool to warm conditions. In the northern parts of the province, a few isolated showers and thundershowers may develop later in the day.

BLOEMFONTEIN

Bloemfontein should stay fairly calm with partly cloudy skies and mild temperatures ranging from 13°C to 27°C.

Wednesday is shaping up to be perfect for staying indoors, keeping warm, and enjoying a hot cup of tea. Weather forecast data provided by the South African Weather Service.
