Three lives have once again been lost in Mpumalanga following a tragic collision between two vehicles near the Middelburg Dam.
According to authorities, the driver of a van travelling from Mbombela towards Emalahleni lost control and veered into the oncoming lane, crashing into another car.
A male driver and two passengers — including a young boy — died instantly at the scene. Three other occupants sustained injuries and were transported to hospital for treatment.
Police have launched an investigation into the cause of the crash, and say negligence has not been ruled out.
Meanwhile, the N1 road outside Louis Trichardt in Limpopo has been reopened to traffic.
The road was closed for more than five hours following a crash that claimed the lives of four people.
Twenty-two people were injured in the multiple-car crash.
Spokesperson for Transport MEC, Tshifhiwa Dali says the road has since been cleared.
“The Limpopo Department of Transport and Community Safety wishes to inform the public and motorists that the N1 road near Binladen farm, six kilometers from Makhado town which was closed has been reopened.”
