The Tshwane Metropolitan Police Department (TMPD) led a major by-laws enforcement operation on Wednesday, 26 November 2025, resulting in the demolition of 54 illegal structures opposite Mams Mall in Mamelodi.

The joint operation, overseen by Deputy Commissioner Nomsa Nhlapho and Brigadier W Mohlala, aimed to eliminate public safety hazards and clear severe road obstructions.

Many of the demolished structures had been erected directly in the middle of the road, contributing to traffic congestion and accidents.

Authorities stressed that compliance with City of Tshwane by-laws is mandatory, warning that any failure to adhere to regulations will lead to the removal of property and other legal action.

The operation successfully cleared the roads and improved pedestrian safety.
