Gauteng residents should brace for more rainfall on Friday and throughout the weekend.
After a wet afternoon across the country, it may be too early to pack away the umbrellas. Cloudy and cool conditions are expected, along with thunderstorms expected this weekend in certain parts of the country.
On Friday, Johannesburg is expected to reach a high of around 19°C before dropping to approximately 13°C overnight, according to AccuWeather. Thunderstorms are also forecast, contributing to a humid and unsettled afternoon.
Pretoria will be slightly warmer, with daytime temperatures peaking near 20°C and an overnight low of about 16°C.
Gauteng to experience rainfall this weekend
Looking ahead to the weekend, Johannesburg is expected to experience a 30% chance of rain on Saturday, with temperatures rising to around 23°C.
A 70% chance of thunderstorms is predicted for Sunday afternoon, extending into Monday.
More rainfall is anticipated across parts of Gauteng early next week as the rainy season continues into December.
This week, the South African Weather Service (SAWS) has also warned of possible localised flooding in low-lying areas due to saturated ground and continued downpours.
Motorists are advised to exercise caution on wet roads, as visibility may be reduced during heavier showers.
Emergency services have urged the public to stay updated on weather alerts and avoid flood-prone routes, especially during peak storm activity.
