About the CoJ Student Internship Programme
The City of Johannesburg’s Student Internship Programme aims to provide on-the-job workplace exposure for students who need practical experience to complete their qualifications. The programme is open to students residing within the Johannesburg community who have never participated in any previous internship programme (except where not relevant to their course of study).
This internship runs for a period not exceeding 18 months and offers valuable experience within the Social Development environment.

Department: Social Development
Branch: Targeted Beneficiaries Unit
Designation: Internship – PWD (Persons With Disabilities) Coordinator
Stipend: R10 109.86 per month (Basic salary, no benefits)
Location: Traduna Building
Minimum Requirements
To be considered, applicants must meet the following:
- Matric / Grade 12
- BA Social Sciences Degree (NQF Level 7) – minimum 360 credits
- Must be a resident of the City of Johannesburg
- Must be a student requiring workplace experience
Primary Function
The intern will assist with the coordination and implementation of Social Development programmes and projects for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) within the City of Johannesburg.
Key Learning Areas
- Implement development programmes for Persons with Disabilities
- Provide administrative support to the Targeted Beneficiaries Unit
- Liaise and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders
- Ensure alignment with CoJ policies and procedures

- Computer literacy (MS Office)
- Ability to work with communities & Persons with Disabilities
- Good communication and active listening skills
- Presentation skills
- Must be multilingual
- Ability to maintain privacy, confidentiality and accountability
