Another boiling day is expected in Mpumalanga, the Free State and the Northern Cape on Thursday, 27 November. If you’re in the Northern Cape, carry along your water and opt for flip-flops. However, in Mpumalanga and the Free State, be sure to pack your umbrella.
MPUMALANGA
Over in the Place of the Rising Sun, expect a morning with fog patches in the Highveld. Otherwise, the day brings partly cloudy and warm conditions with isolated showers and thundershowers, but scattered in the extreme north-east. It will be hot in places in the Lowveld.
MBOMBELA
In Mpumalanga’s capital city, it will be partly cloudy at first, otherwise cloudy with isolated showers and thundershowers. Temperatures will range from 18°C to 29°C.
NORTHERN CAPE
Thursday brings cloudy but extreme heat to South Africa’s largest province. Cloudy conditions are expected along the coast in the morning with fog in places, otherwise partly cloudy and warm to hot, but fine in the north-west. Isolated showers and thundershowers are expected in the east, with scattered showers in the extreme south-east. It will be very hot in places over the central and eastern interior. The wind along the coast will be light to moderate north-westerly, becoming light and variable in the early morning.
KIMBERLEY
Partly cloudy with scattered afternoon showers and thundershowers, with a minimum of 20°C and a maximum of 33°C.
UPINGTON
Partly cloudy conditions with isolated afternoon showers and thundershowers. Temperatures will range from 22°C to 38°C.
FREE STATE
Despite the heat, the Free State should brace for severe thunderstorms. The South African Weather Service has issued a Yellow Level 2 warning for adverse weather, including heavy downpours, localised flooding of susceptible roads, low-lying areas and bridges. The storm may also bring hail, strong gusty winds and lightning in the southern parts of the province.
BLOEMFONTEIN
Partly cloudy with scattered afternoon showers and thundershowers. Expect a low of 17°C and a high of 32°C.
