The husband of Afrikaner refugee Thea van Straten has claimed that she lied about being a victim of farm attacks in South Africa. He also claims that she flew to the US without telling him.
The woman was one of the first group of white South Africans who arrived in America as part of the refugee resettlement programme.
Thea is a qualified veterinarian who lives on a guest farm in the Free State.
AFRIKANER REFUGEE’S HUSBAND RUBBISHES HER CLAIMS
Speaking to social justice activist Bianca van Wyk in a YouTube video, Jan van Straten, the husband of Thea van Straten, opened up about her sudden departure as part of the US’s refugee programme.
Jan claimed his wife up and left their guest farm in the Free State, without telling him.
He spotted her on TV, a day after her departure.
He said: “I did not know she left for the United States until the Monday morning after.
“We were living happily together on the same farm, in the same house, looking after the guests and the animals and the farm business.
The property owner stated that his wife had informed him of her decision to apply for the refugee programme for both of them. She had gone to meetings at the US Embassy alone, the last one being a day before her departure.
He shared that he was both “shocked” and “pained” by her departure.
Jan disputed his wife’s claims about being a victim of farm attacks.
He said, “There were no farm attacks. This is not true. There was no crime and no attacks in the area. This can be verified by the police.
Jon added that his wife, who left with just clothes and their computer, had tried to put the property on the market after her departure, but he halted the process.
He added, “The farm is running as normal, and it is managed very well. The children are playing around, swimming, and fishing in the dams. The animals are still there; it’s business as usual.”
‘PUTTING MY TRUST IN AMERICANS’
Speaking to Chris Wyatt, a US intel expert with an interest in the refugee programme, Thea van Straten claimed she escaped South Africa out of fear for her safety.
The qualified veterinarian claimed she was a victim of four attacks in two years.
She claimed that she was willing to leave her life behind to start a new chapter in the US.
She continued: “It’s me, myself, and whatever I’ve got in my bank accounts. I’m taking that risk; it’s that scary. If it doesn’t get sold, it doesn’t get sold.
“I’m putting my faith and trust in the hands of Americans”.
