South African screen star Thapelo Mokoena is celebrating a significant victory on the continental stage after being honoured with the coveted Actor of the Year award at the 10th EMY Africa Awards ceremony in Ghana.
The acclaimed actor took to social media to share the exciting news with his followers, posting a photograph of himself accepting the accolade and describing his time in Accra as an “unforgettable weekend.”
Mokoena admitted that the magnitude of the moment had left him searching for the right words, calling the recognition an “incredible honour.”
He added: “I love what I do, & I’m super grateful for the acknowledgment.”
The EMY Africa Awards are widely regarded as one of the continent’s largest and most respected ceremonies celebrating outstanding achievement. Mokoena extended his heartfelt gratitude to the organisers, including founder Kojo Soboh.
“A big thank you to the biggest Awards ceremony in Africa, the 10th @emyafrica Awards… To the global panels, the founders… & the whole team,” he wrote.
