Former Kaizer Chiefs attacker Junior Khanye has picked Orlando Pirates winger Oswin Appollis as his Player of the Season so far.
The Betway Premiership is just 12 rounds in, but the former winger has tipped the former Polokwane City star to win the award. Since joining the Buccaneers in July, Appollis has scored four goals and provided five assists for his new club across all competitions.
Against Chippa United on Tuesday night, the 24-year-old attacker sealed the match with a curling shot to make it 2-0.
“Again, Ouaddou won the game from the bench,” Khanye said on iDiski TV.
“I know it’s still early but this boy is a contender for Player of the Season. I am talking about Oswin Appollis. I am honest. I was always his critic, but he proved me wrong. He has shown character since his arrival and his decision-making is something else,” he said.
Former Orlando Pirates goalkeeper Moeneeb Josephs has also shared Khanye’s sentiments on Appollis. The ex-Bafana Bafana shotstopper hailed the 24-year-old for improving the team and taking them to the next level this season.
Appollis has become PSL’s best player
“For me, he’s been the Player of the Season so far,” Josephs said on SoccerBeat.
“Whenever he gets the ball, he makes things happen for the team. At the moment, there’s not a single player who is matching him for what he is contributing to the team. He’s just on another level and he’s always in dangerous areas,” he said.
