Calling all rescue dogs! Save-a-Pet is inviting second-chance hounds from across Gqeberha to show their stuff for a good cause.
That’s right, the animal shelter will be hosting their Rescue Dog Show and Market this weekend.
Clearly, it’s the season for humans’ best friend to unleash their talent, and honestly, it’s a great way to support those who have yet to find a home.
RESCUE DOG SHOW AND MARKET: ALL THE DETAILS
The show will take place at Old Cape Road, Greenbushes, this Sunday, 30 November 2025. It will start at 9:30 and end at 14:00.
According to Good Things Guy, your dog is eligible to participate in the show if they’ve been previously rescued. These are just some of the categories that your pooch can enter:
- Cleverest Trick
- Eclectic Ears
- Friendliest Pooch
- Magnificent Mixed Breed
- Shiniest Coat
And much, much more!
For the humans, you can peruse the vegan market, courtesy of Planty, Bru. It promises amazing food, as well as eco-conscious products.
‘PAWS’ FOR A GOOD CAUSE
Entries cost R50 each, while regular attendants can purchase tickets for R20. Children under the age of ten can enter for free.
All proceeds from the ticket sales will go towards funding Save-a-Pet’s rescue, rehabilitation and re-homing efforts, including shelter upgrades and vet expenses.
Per Save-a-Pet’s website:
Our aim is to sterilise and to eliminate cruelty to animals, whether arising from ignorance, neglect or deliberate cruelty, and to alleviate suffering and promote wellbeing. In addition to the more than 230 dogs and cats in our full-time care, Save-a-Pet assists the surrounding informal areas as finances allow, with sterilisation to prevent unwanted litters of puppies and kittens being our main focus.
Through your support, you and your Best Furry Friend are boosting the shelter’s efforts and giving the animals in their care a better quality of life. What’s more, you’re helping these critters take one paw-step closer to finding their dream home.
