Minister of Agriculture John Steenhuisen has become a meme on social media amid reports that the Democratic Alliance leader allegedly misused his party’s credit card to overindulge on Uber Eats.
The allegations was made by the DA’s federal finance chairperson Dion George.
He is now under an internal investigation.

According to reports, John Steenhuisen is accused of misusing an official political party credit for personal items, including ordering Uber Eats for himself and his family.
This comes days after news broke of the minister receiving a default judgment for almost R150 000 in unpaid credit card debt.
Dion George – a former Minister of Environment, Forestry and Fisheries and now DA federal finance chairperson stated that the card had been removed from the leader.

Many were entertained by his love of Uber Eats. Others brought up his apparent weight gain since joining the Government of National Unity (GNU).

Speaking to The Citizen in 2023, John Steenhuisen stated that his favourite takeout was an authentic bunny chow.
“I try to get one every time I visit my hometown,” he said.
He told the Sunday Times of the dish: “To me it just represents everything about the heritage of a place like KwaZulu-Natal. And of Durban, a melting pot of different heritages and cultures.”
