Mamelodi Sundowns have reportedly put one of their most expensive signings on the transfer list after just a year.
Sundowns reportedly beat rivals Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates to the signing of Stellenbosch FC midfielder Jayden Adams in January.
Sundowns paid big money for Adams
It’s believed that Sundowns parted ways with a figure close to the R25 million Stellenbosch demanded for Adams. This in a move that many thought would take both him and the Brazilians to the next level. However, the other side to that was always the amount of midfield competition at Chloorkop.
After being eased into the team, Adams finally got integrated into the Sundowns starting eleven. He did have some good performances early on before a drop off in form started. The Bafana Bafana star has not been able to break that slump which eventually saw him dropped. Now having failed to win his place back in the side, Sportswire reports that he has been transfer listed!
Masandawana place him on transfer list
The publication claims that Sundowns are even willing to listen to loan offers for Adams. This maybe due to the fact that they have reinforced in that area. This with two Portuguese stars in Nuno Santos and Miguel Reisinho who now seem to be settling well at the club. That has since pushed the 2024 Afcon bronze medalist even further down the pecking order.
This could mean that Adams could leave Sundowns in just a year after joining from Stellenbosch. Judging from the amount of money spent on him as well as his reputation, the truth in the report remains to be seen. Having lost his place in the Bafana squad in recent times, it could be to his best interest to leave.
Right move or wrong?
Sundowns fans, would it be the right decision to sell Adams or send him on loan? Or should he be given another opportunity? Feel free to leave your thoughts and feelings in the comments section below.
