The Pretoria Magistrate’s Court will hear the case of a Hawks sergeant and a Tembisa Hospital official on Monday, 24 November 2025.
They face corruption charges after an alleged attempt to bribe an investigating officer working on the Tembisa Hospital probe.
Brigadier Thandi Mbambo confirmed the court date and said Hawks officers arrested both suspects on Sunday.
Alleged Bribe Linked to Hospital Investigation
The case stems from 21 November 2025, when the sergeant allegedly told a Hawks officer that a Tembisa Hospital official sought help to avoid prosecution.
The sergeant reportedly said the official was prepared to offer a bribe.
On Sunday, 23 November 2025, the sergeant and the hospital official allegedly handed R100 000 in cash to the investigating officer.
The meeting formed part of an operation authorised by the Director of Public Prosecutions. Hawks members then arrested both suspects.
Hawks Leadership Welcomes the Arrests
Acting Hawks head Lieutenant General Siphosihle Nkosi praised the investigating officer. He commended them for refusing the bribe and reporting it.
Nkosi said the Hawks will continue pursuing corruption cases at Tembisa Hospital. He added that they will remove any DPCI members involved in crime.
The Hawks said it remains committed to transparency, accountability and upholding the law.
The organisation said it is demonstrating its determination to fight corruption by arresting members involved, even from within its own ranks.
