About the Tomorrow Trust Bursary Programme 2026

Eligibility Requirements

To qualify for the Tomorrow Trust Bursary 2026, applicants must meet the following:

Citizenship & Age

  • Must be a South African citizen
  • Aged 18–31 years

Academic Requirements

  • Currently in Matric (2025) or already completed Matric
  • Must be studying or planning to study a full-time STEM degree (undergraduate or postgraduate, excluding Masters)
  • Must be pursuing their first qualification
  • Must attend or plan to attend a public university in South Africa

First-Generation University Student Criteria

Your parents may not hold a university degree, except in the following cases:

  • One parent attended university but did not complete
  • Parents completed short courses or diplomas funded by employers
  • Household income is R350 000 or less per year
  • Parents are SASSA beneficiaries (provide proof)
  • Parents are self-employed (affidavit + 3 months bank statements)

Funding & Employment Rules

  • Must not be employed full-time
  • Must not receive full funding from NSFAS or any other bursary
    • Partial funding allowed
    • Merit-based awards allowed
  • Household income must be below R350 000 per year
