10-hour power outage to affect parts of Gauteng on Tuesday

Residents in Wattville will face a full-day electricity interruption on Tuesday as Eskom prepares to carry out critical maintenance on its distribution network.

The utility confirmed that the 10-hour power outage forms part of ongoing efforts to stabilise infrastructure and improve long-term supply reliability.

Eskom maintenance work set to begin early morning

Eskom announced that the power outage will run from 8:00 to 18:00 on 25 November, affecting all customers in the Waterville area.

The power utility said the shutdown is necessary to carry out essential repairs and upgrades on the local grid.

According to the notice, “the interruption in electricity supply is necessary to perform essential maintenance on our distribution power lines.”

Safety precautions for residents

Officials urged residents to prioritise safety during the power outage. Eskom has warned community members to exercise caution around electrical appliances, noting that power may be restored without prior notice.

The utility reminded households to treat all electrical appliances as live at all times during the power supply outage to avoid the risk of electric shock or damage to equipment.

Eskom apologises and notes possible schedule changes

Eskom expressed appreciation for customer patience, adding that it is aware of the inconvenience caused by prolonged power outages.

The utility stated, “Eskom would like to thank you for your cooperation and apologises for any inconvenience that this maintenance may cause.”

However, the utility also cautioned that unforeseen challenges may alter the schedule. Also, in its disclaimer, Eskom indicated that “should circumstances beyond the control of Eskom arise, the planned electricity maintenance may not proceed as communicated.”
