LIVE SCORING | Proteas v India: Second Test

The Proteas should still be full of confidence after picking up a sensational win over India at Eden Gardens in the first Test, but they will know that another mammoth challenge awaits in the ‘rematch’ in Guwahati.

Both teams have been reviewing some significant injury concerns, with Proteas star Kagiso Rabada still battling the rib injury he sustained at training before the series opener, while it remains to be seen if India captain Shubman Gill is cleared to play after picking up a neck injury.

Having claimed their first Test win in India since 2010, and their first at Eden Gardens since 1996, coach Shuki Conrad said there was still a big job to be done as they chase a historic series win.

“I’m proud of the group and the belief that they have. We’ve won a Test in Pakistan and a Test here, but you don’t come to a country to win a Test – you come to win a series.

“Teams have dark experiences of coming here and the psyche is as such, we may feel that we have ability we haven’t tapped into yet,” he added. “Where we have weaknesses, we make up in the ability to play as a unit, and we show that we never give up.”

The second Test gets underway on Saturday, 22 November, with the first day’s play starting at 05:30 (SA time).
