SACHA FEINBERG-MNGOMEZULU’S DAD TALKS RAINBOW FAMILY
Appearing on an episode of the Learner Husband podcast, Nick Feinberg shared his experience of blending families, particularly those from different cultures and ethnicities.
The father of Springbok Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu revealed his family was a “mixed cultural bunch of people”.
He said: “I am white, of Jewish origin, although an atheist. My ex-wife is Zulu, and black. My current wife is coloured, from Mitchell’s Plain”.
Nick – a sports broadcaster – revealed how he had met his ex-wife, Makhosazana Mngomezulu, after returning to South Africa from exile in the UK.

Makhosazana had a young son, Nathan Mngomezulu – Sacha’s half-brother – whom Nick embraced as his own. The couple welcomed Sacha, who is of mixed-race heritage.
After their split, Nick met his current wife, Candace, who also had a son from a previous relationship. Nick again took the young boy as his own.
He now considers the three young men as his sons, claiming he “treats them all exactly the same”.
“We’re very close, which is wonderful….they love each other”.
RISE OF MULTICULTURAL HOMES
South Africa is home to over 63 million people, of whom 8.9% make up the coloured population. This demographic includes mixed-race individuals.
Like Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu’s home, there is a growing increase in multiracial households in the country. According to Stats SA, this figure has risen from just 1,3% in 2001 to 11,4% in 2022. The government agency states that this trend signals a “shift in societal norms and greater racial integration in family structures”.
