Skeem Saam’s newest character set to shake up Turfloop

Skeem Saam is welcoming a new character to Turfloop, with rising young actor Relebogile Mothapo set to make her debut as Jacqui Monama on 19 November.
Born in August 2010, Relebogile has been passionate about the arts since the age of five. Whether she was singing, performing or entertaining at home, she always knew she was drawn to the spotlight. This year, she decided to take her first professional step into acting, and her big break arrived with Skeem Saam.
“I have always wanted to tell stories that make people feel something. Being part of Skeem Saam is a dream come true,” she says.
Who is Jacqui Monama?
Jacqui is confident, striking and quick-witted, a young woman who turns heads wherever she goes. Despite her bold exterior, she carries a complicated past and a lingering sense of abandonment.
Having grown up without her parents, Jacqui has long struggled with resentment towards her mother, Melita, whose affair with Mr Kgomo once overshadowed her life. After losing her home in an earlier season, she returns to Turfloop determined to rebuild herself, find stability and figure out where she truly belongs.
Jacqui is sharp, outspoken and at times defiant. She knows how to use her charm to get through difficult situations, but beneath that is a vulnerable young woman searching for connection and certainty.
The writing team says Relebogile brings “a natural warmth and depth to the character” and describes her as magnetic on screen.
Viewers can catch Jacqui’s arrival from Monday to Friday at 19:30 on SABC 1, where her presence promises to stir things up in Turfloop.
