Hyundai donates 30 luxury minivans to transport delegates at G20 summit

Hyundai Motor Group has been selected to provide the official vehicle fleet for the 2025 G20 Leaders’ Summit, which takes place in Johannesburg on 22–23 November.

The company will supply 30 STARIA multi-purpose vehicles to transport delegation staff and to support various operations during the historic summit in Johannesburg.

The event will be the first time a G20 Leaders’ Summit is hosted on African soil.

This year’s theme, “Solidarity, Equality, Sustainability,” is said to reflect the forum’s focus on global cooperation and inclusive growth.

Hyundai’s involvement follows a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed in September between the automaker and DIRCO.

The agreement outlines Hyundai’s role in ensuring smooth logistics for the high-level gathering.

Transporting the world’s leaders

The G20, formed in 1999, originally brought together finance ministers and central bank governors from the world’s major economies.

It evolved into a full leaders’ summit in 2008 during the global financial crisis. The G20 has since become one of the most influential platforms for global economic and policy discussions.

The 2025 meeting will be the 20th edition of the Summit.

Heads of state from G20 nations, leaders from the European Union and African Union, and representatives from multilateral bodies including the UN, IMF and World Bank are expected to attend.

What’s inside the Hyundai STARIA?

Hyundai said the STARIA was chosen for its modern design, spacious interior and flexible seating. This makes it well-suited for transporting delegates safely and comfortably.

The model also offers advanced safety and convenience features that align with the Summit’s operational needs.

“It is deeply meaningful for us to support the first-ever G20 Summit held in Africa with our vehicles,” said Ilbum Kim, Executive VP at Hyundai.

“We will do our utmost to contribute to the success of this influential and significant event.”
