Over the weekend, the 2025 Black Twitter Awards took place, which recognised South Africans in public profiles for their weird and wonderful contribution to the country.

Hilariously, all nominees in the category won the award; they include fellow Patriotic Alliance member and MP Ashley Sauls, suspended National Deputy Police Commissioner Shadrack Sibiya, podcaster Penuel Mlotshwa, and ousted MK Party secretary Floyd Shivambu.
The group were presented with virtual certificates, signed by “Black Twitter President” Chris Excel.

Gayton McKenzie was one of many public servants who was named at the Black Twitter Awards.

Reacting to the news, ActionSA leader Herman Mashaba congratulated Moya of his party.
He also poked fun at former mayor Cilliers Brink, who he claimed would take the award.
He tweeted: “Any mention of Mayor Moya’s name gives him serious chest pains. The DA must be on standby in case there is an emergency”.
