About the ILASA Bursary Programme 2026
ILASA is inviting students to apply for their bursary programme for the 2026 academic year.
Bursaries will be awarded to students pursuing a Degree in Landscape Architecture at Undergraduate or Postgraduate level, at any SACLAP-accredited institution:
- University of Cape Town (UCT)
- University of Pretoria (UP)
- Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT)
- Tshwane University of Technology (TUT)
Awards are based on academic merit, financial need, university requirements, available funding, and ILASA’s bursary policy.
More About the ILASA Bursary – Coverage Value, Service Contract & Selection
The ILASA bursary provides partial financial assistance, covering:
- Registration fees
- Tuition fees
- Residence fees (in exceptional circumstances)
ILASA awards a maximum bursary amount of R40 000 per student.
Payments are made directly to tertiary institutions or relevant service providers.
Eligibility Requirements for the ILASA Bursary
Applicants must meet these minimum requirements:
- Must be a South African citizen or naturalised citizen
- Must be studying or intending to study toward a Landscape Architecture degree (undergraduate or postgraduate)
- Must be registered or accepted at a SACLAP-accredited institution (UCT, UP, CPUT, TUT)
- Must have achieved a minimum 60% average in the previous year of study
- Must have proven financial need
- Preference will be given to financially needy students from previously disadvantaged backgrounds
- Students with disabilities are encouraged to apply

- Certified copies of parents’/guardians’ ID documents
- Certified proof of parents’/guardians’ income (payslips, affidavit, company letter, or financial statements)
- Certified academic record (school or tertiary)
- Proof of offer/acceptance at UCT, UP, CPUT or TUT (if available)
- Motivational letter outlining:
- Academic ability
- Financial need
- Career goals
Important Notes About the ILASA Bursary

- Applicants must read the ILASA Bursary Policy (.pdf).
- All applicants will receive an email confirming receipt.
- Final selections are made by the ILASA NEC.
- Successful candidates will be contacted first, followed by feedback to unsuccessful applicants.
- Keep all original documents, as they will be required if the bursary is awarded.
