Kropz is inviting students to apply for their bursary programme, for the 2026 academic year.

About the Kropz Bursary Programme 2026

The Kropz Elandsfontein Bursary Programme supports deserving students from the Saldanha Bay Municipality who want to pursue tertiary studies linked to the mining and minerals sector. The bursary aims to help learners from the local community access higher education and build skills that are in demand in the mining industry. (

Successful candidates will be required to sign a study agreement with Kropz and may be expected to maintain good academic performance throughout their studies. Only shortlisted applicants will be contacted – if you do not receive feedback, you can regard your application as unsuccessful.


Fields of Study Covered

Bursaries will be awarded for studies in 2026 in the following fields:

  • Accounting
  • Chemical Engineering
  • Electrical Engineering
  • Environmental Science
  • Geology
  • Health and Safety Management
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Metallurgical Engineering
  • Mining

These fields are directly aligned with the needs of the mining sector, particularly Kropz’s Elandsfontein operation.


Eligibility Requirements for the Kropz Bursary

To be considered for the Kropz Bursary 2026, applicants must meet the following minimum criteria: (Edupstairs)

  • You must reside within Saldanha Bay Municipality in the Western Cape.
  • You must be currently in Matric or have already completed Matric.
  • You must have obtained a minimum of 65% in English and Mathematics.
  • You must intend to study towards one of the approved fields of study listed above in 2026.
  • You must be (or intend to be) enrolled at an accredited South African institution (university or college).
  • You must NOT be receiving any other bursary funding.
  • You must NOT be related to any employees of Kropz or its contractors or business partners.
  • Preference will be given to:
    • Students from disadvantaged backgrounds; and
    • Applicants in the preferred study fields listed by Kropz.

Student Loan Information

Even with a bursary, some students may still need extra financial support (for accommodation, devices, or living costs). It’s a good idea to:

  • Compare student loan options from reputable banks and financial institutions.
  • Check if you qualify for additional funding such as NSFAS (if applicable) or other bursaries.

This bursary should ideally form part of your overall funding plan for your studies.


Required Supporting Documents

When applying, you must submit clear, certified copies of the following documents (certified within the last 3 months): (Kropz)

  • South African ID document (certified copy)
  • Most recent academic record / statement of results (certified)
  • Proof of enrolment or acceptance letter from a tertiary institution, if available (certified)
  • Proof of permanent residential address (certified)
  • Parents’ or guardians’ ID documents (certified)
  • Parents’ or guardians’ proof of household income:
    • IRP5 or payslips if employed
    • Affidavit if unemployed

Note: If any required document is missing or not properly certified, your application may be disqualified.
