This weekend, the 14th annual A Taste of Belgium event – organised by the Belgian Chamber of Commerce, in collaboration with the Consulate General of Belgium – will take place in Cape Town.
As the name suggests, you will get to enjoy the very best of Belgian culture and cuisine, as if you were in the European country itself.
A TASTE OF BELGIUM: WHERE, WHEN AND WAYFARING
The event will take place this Saturday, 15 November. It will be held at the Belgian Embassy Residence, which is located at 29 Boshof Avenue in Newlands.
The start time is 10:00, with the event set to end at 17:00. Entrance is free.
Parking is available at Fernwood Estate and the Stone Cottages at Kirstenbosch. Additionally, you can make use of the free shuttle service, which will take you directly to the venue.
BEER, CHOCOLATE AND MUSSELS, BRUSSELS-STYLE

As per Aspire Lifestyle, you will be able to savour “authentic Belgian flavours.”
Indeed, you will get the opportunity to sink your teeth into delicacies from “sweet waffles and fine chocolates to hearty stews, fresh mussels and the country’s iconic gourmet fries.”
What’s more, you can expect a fine selection of Belgian-crafted wines and spirits, including top-notch beers.
FUN FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY
In addition to the food, you can also peruse the market, which offers an assortment of handcrafted items and gifts made by Belgian and local artisans.
If you plan to bring any little ones, there are plenty of entertaining activities for them to enjoy. These include face-painting, letting their creativity go wild at sand art stations or letting loose on the jumping castles.
There will also be live music provided by The Incidentals, an acoustic folk-rock trio that hails from the Mother City.
