The City of Johannesburg (CoJ) invites unemployed South African graduates to apply for its Internship Programme 2026, designed to offer practical workplace experience and professional development within various departments.

Internship Duration: 18 Months (Non-renewable)
Monthly Stipend: R10 109.86 (Basic salary, no benefits)

Programme Overview

The City of Johannesburg Internship Programme 2026 offers an exciting opportunity for recent graduates to gain valuable work experience in the public sector. Interns will be exposed to real municipal operations, develop practical skills, and contribute to service delivery excellence in line with Batho Pele Principles.

Interns will sign both an Internship Agreement and an Employment Contract, committing to full participation in the programme’s educational and workplace activities.

1. Internship: Governance, Risk Management & Compliance

Department: Community Development

Requirements:

  • Diploma or Degree in Public Management, Business Administration, or related field focusing on Risk Management or Compliance.

Duties:

  • Support governance, risk, and compliance monitoring processes.
  • Assist in the collation of performance evidence and audit preparation.
  • Provide administrative, analytical, and coordination support.
  • Contribute to ethical governance and Batho Pele awareness initiatives.

2. Internship: Liaison & Public Relations
