Introduction
Mintek seeks to appoint a motivated and detail-oriented HR Intern to support the Human Resources Division. The successful candidate will gain valuable experience in recruitment, selection, training coordination, and HR operations within a leading research and development environment.
This internship provides a structured learning opportunity for graduates to develop professional HR skills while contributing to Mintek’s commitment to operational excellence and employee development.
Key Performance Indicators
Recruitment and Selection
- Administer the full recruitment process for junior positions and talent pipeline initiatives.
- Receive, record, and ensure completeness of employment applications.
- Assist with pre-interview screening, testing, and assessment coordination.
- Ensure candidate compliance with South African employment legislation.
- Conduct and facilitate pre- and post-interview briefings.
- Record and communicate interview feedback to relevant stakeholders.
- Administer competency and psychometric assessments.
- Conduct reference checks.
- Coordinate interview logistics and compile new hire documentation, including employment contracts.
- Organise pre-employment medical assessments.
Learning and Development
- Assist with compiling the annual training calendar.
- Register employees for courses and process related payments.
- Track attendance and communicate training details to stakeholders.
- Prepare attendance registers, evaluation forms, and distribute pre-work material.
- Capture training data and maintain accurate learning records.
- Prepare training venues for learning interventions.
- Support the Skills Development Officer in consolidating training data for SETA, BEE, EE, and WSP/ATR reporting.
- Assist with bursary administration and payment processing to tertiary institutions.

Minimum Requirements
Qualifications
- Honours Degree (NQF Level 8) in:
- Human Resources
- Industrial Psychology
- Or a similar relevant field.
- Ideal qualification: Master’s Degree in HR or Industrial Psychology.
Additional Criteria
- South African citizens only.
- Unemployed at the time of application.
- Passion for developing a career in Human Resources.
