‘Not playing mind-games’ – says Rassie ahead of French clash

Rassie Erasmus has denied that he is playing mind games ahead of the Springboks’ match against France.

Rassie Erasmus is on a mission to get the upper hand on France when they battle it out this weekend.

After securing a comfortable victory against Japan last Saturday, the Springbok mentor has transitioned his focus to his European opponents. He has since gone on to follow France on X.

It appears that both teams are wary of the challenge that the opposition will bring. France has since resorted to having private training sessions in fear of being spied on, while Erasmus made a bold, yet accurate prediction of the France starting XV for the upcoming match.

Mind games? Rassie denies

In a recent press conference, coach Erasmus, was questioned on whether there were any mind games being played in the build-up to the match.

He responded by denying these claims. Erasmus explained that the purpose of his posts is merely to enlighten the South African supporters.

“People see everything we do as mind games. I just put our team weights and our caps out of there. That’s for communicating with our South African supporters and for them to get a little bit more depth and insight into what our team look like and how it compares to their team,” he said.

Despite being spot on with his prediction, he assured reporters that what goes on in the French camp will not have an influence on what they are doing in theirs (Springbok camp).

“I think that the South African supporters are really into it and understand it, and the more you give them, the more they understand.

“We play for South Africa, for the Springboks, and we are playing away from home, and it will be a lonely place on that field, but we know there are millions of people in South Africa.”

A moment of milestones

This weekend marks a milestone for both Rassie Erasmus as well as captain Siya Kolisi.

With Siya running out to play his hundredth match for the national team, and Rassie leading his 50th game as the Head Coach of the Springboks, the team will be fired up to honour the occasion with a victory.

The match kicks off this Saturday, 22h10 (SA-time).
