SAFCOL Learnerships 2026 for Unemployed Youth

The South African Forestry Company SOC Limited (SAFCOL) invites unemployed South African youth to apply for its Learnership Programme for 2026.

About SAFCOL

SAFCOL is a state-owned enterprise (SOE) that manages South Africa’s commercial forestry assets on behalf of the government. The organisation plays a crucial role in the forestry value chain — from plantation management to sawmilling and timber processing.

Through its learnership initiatives, SAFCOL empowers young South Africans with industry-relevant skills to build sustainable careers in forestry and contribute to the country’s green economy.


Available Learnership Programmes

SAFCOL offers the following NQF-accredited Learnerships for 2026:

  1. Mechanised Harvesting (NQF Level 3)
  2. Forestry Silviculture (NQF Level 3)
  3. General Education and Training Certificate (GETC) in Forestry (NQF Level 1)

Programme Overview

The Learnership Programme aims to develop technical and entrepreneurial skills in forestry and related industries. It includes both accredited theoretical training and practical workplace experience.

Upon completion, learners will receive an NQF Level 1–3 Certificate and gain valuable exposure to opportunities in forestry, environmental management, and SMME development.

The Programme Includes:

  • Accredited theoretical training in Forestry (NQF Levels 1–3)
  • Practical hands-on training in forestry operations
  • Exposure to professional mentorship and workplace practices

Eligibility Requirements

To apply, applicants must:

  • Be a South African citizen
  • Be unemployed and aged between 18 and 35 years
  • Have successfully passed Grade 12 (Matric)
  • Be passionate about forestry and outdoor work
