Reminder: Kick off time, officials for Springboks v Japan

The Springboks have five more Tests in 2025, and Rassie Erasmus’ team will kick off their November tour with an important clash against Japan at Wembley Stadium this Saturday as they look to establish some strong momentum.

As the Springboks head into five Tests on their traditional Outgoing Tour, it’s worth noting that their opening encounter will be refereed by Eoghan Cross of Ireland, with the Irishman to be assisted by Ben O’Keeffe and Adam Leal, while Mike Adamson will be in the TMO box.

Kick off on Saturday for the Springboks against Japan is at 18:10 (SA time)

Commenting on the opposition, Erasmus said: “Japan have been improving steadily over the last few years, and they defeated us a few years ago, so we have no doubt they will come out guns blazing on Saturday and throw everything at us.”

What also has to be noted is the fact that Wembley Stadium has a hybrid pitch made up of natural grass and synthetic plastic fibres, making for another challenge altogether.

“A few of our Japanese-based players that arrived earlier in the week watched a league game at Wembley Stadium, and the pitch looks quite fast, which could suit the Japanese players who want to play fast rugby,” said loose forward Kwagga Smith.

“A whole lot of URC teams have played on hybrid pitches and also in the Premiership, so it may be different for us this week, but that will certainly help going into the match.”
