DStv is dropping its decoder prices by 40%

From 1 November 2025, DStv is lowering the cost of its decoder prices. The HD decoder will now cost R300 or R700 (with installation) when bought online via its newly launched store (that’s 40% off).

Meanwhile, when buying the HD decoder at retail stores (the likes of Makro, Game), customers will see a slash of 30% discounts.

“From the start of November, we will be reducing our HD Decoder pricing by 30% in retail channels and over 40% through our newly launched DStv store to make joining and reconnecting with DStv easier and more affordable than ever,” said Byron du Plessis, CEO: SA PayTV at MultiChoice, a CANAL+ company.

This move comes as more customers shift to streaming, prompting MultiChoice to rethink how to stay competitive.

For Premium subscribers, the changes include extra streams, raising the total to four devices, ideal for busy households.

DStv Rewards will also offer better value, free movies, shopping perks, and exclusive event invites.

All this aligns with DStv’s 30th birthday, marked by the return of “Open Time” happening from 7–9 November, letting viewers get full access to every DStv Premium channel for three days.
