Cape Town announces 10-hour water outage

Planned maintenance in parts of Cape Town will result in water supply interruptions.

The maintenance work will be conducted from Tuesday, 28 October.

CAPE TOWN CONFIRMS NINE-HOUR WATER OUTAGE

The City of Cape Town said planned maintenance work will result in water supply disruption to these areas:

Part of Silveroaks – Kuils River – The City’s Water and Sanitation Directorate will temporarily shut off the water supply to Marais Street, Denne Street, Omega Street, Muller Street, a section of Langverwacht Road, and possibly surrounding streets in Silveroaks in Kuils River on Tuesday, 28 October, from 9:00 until 18:00. The area will experience no water during this period.

Part of Wynberg – Water supply will be temporarily shut off in part of Wynberg on Tuesday, 28 October, from 8:00 until 18:00. The work involves connecting the newly installed water pipeline along Cogill Road and Oak Avenue to the existing water supply infrastructure, as well as the installation of two valves in Langley Road between Wellington Avenue and Fleming Road. The area affected by the shut-off will be Piers Road, Cogill Road, Oak Avenue, Mortimer Road, Devonshire Road, Langley Road, and possibly the surrounds in Wynberg.

Part of Fish Hoek – Similarly, the City of Cape Town‘s Water and Sanitation Directorate will temporarily shut off the water supply in parts of Fish Hoek on Tuesday, 28 October, from 8:30 until 18:30. The work involves installing two valves at the intersection of Berg Road and Highway Road to the existing water supply infrastructure. The areas affected by the shut-off will be Berg Road, Highway Road and the surrounding areas in Fish Hoek.

Dunoon and Part of Killarney Gardens – Water supply to Dunoon and part of Killarney Gardens will also be temporarily shut off from 9:00 until 17:00 on Tuesday, 28 October, Wednesday, 29 October, and Thursday, 30 October to do repairs to the leaking 450mm water main supplying these areas. These areas will experience no water during these periods.

ZERO-PRESSURE TESTS

Zero-pressure tests (ZPT) and conditional assessments will be done on the water supply network, resulting in water supply disruptions in the following areas:

The area bounded by Klipfontein Road, Silverstream Road, Duinefontein Road, and the Railway Line, and possibly the immediate surrounds in Manenberg North on Wednesday, 29 October, from 9:30 until 16:00.
