About the DSRAC Internship Programme 2025–2027
The Department’s internship programme is designed to address youth unemployment by offering workplace experience to graduates who have completed their studies in accredited tertiary institutions.
This 24-month programme provides structured on-the-job training, mentorship, and skills development to prepare youth for future employment opportunities within the public sector.
Available Internship Opportunities
1. Technical Intern: Archives Repository (Digitization)

Number of Posts: 5
Directorate: Archives & Records Management
Centre: Head Office (Qonce)
Stipend: R7,860.50 per month
Requirements:
- National Senior Certificate plus a National Diploma (NQF Level 6) in Archives & Records Management or a related qualification.
- History as a major subject will be an added advantage.
- These posts are earmarked for persons with disabilities.
Duties:
- Evaluate and organize archival collections.
- Classify and label materials for easy access and reference.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive metadata and catalogues.
- Prepare, scan, and digitize records ensuring quality image resolution.
- Conduct quality assurance checks and maintain digital archives.

2. Information Technology (ICT) Intern

Directorate: Information Technology (Data Analysis / Systems Development / Support)

Stipend: R7,860.50 per month
Requirements:
- National Senior Certificate plus a National Diploma (NQF Level 6) in Information Technology, Business Applications, Software Development, Technical Programming, Mathematical Statistics, Computer Science, or Applied Mathematics.
- Additional advantageous certifications or knowledge in:
- Big Data, Data Analysis & Modelling (Pandas, NumPy, Matplotlib, SciPy, seaborn)
- Machine Learning & Deep Learning (TensorFlow, Keras, Pytorch, Sklearn)
- Data Visualization (Power BI, Tableau)
- Programming (Python, R, Jupyter, Spyder, Pycharm)
Duties:
- Provide functional and technical support for departmental systems (Isisele modules, intranet, website).
- Resolve system-related issues and support end-users.
- Deliver system training and help-desk support.
- Conduct data analysis and visualization to support decision-making.
- Develop algorithms and design experiments for data management.
