Cape Town’s coastline welcomes world-class beach volleyball

The sands of Camps Bay Beach are transforming into a world-class sporting arena this week as the Volleyball World Beach Pro Tour Elite16 serves off in Cape Town.

From Wednesday, 22 October, to Sunday, 26 October 2025, the prestigious tournament showcases 96 elite athletes from 48 countries.

These athletes will all compete for glory against the iconic backdrop of Table Mountain, according to Volleyball World.

This event marks a significant moment for South African sport. It brings one of the highest tiers of international beach volleyball to African soil.

Spectators will witness non-stop, electrifying action as top-tier men’s and women’s teams, including Olympic-level athletes, unleash powerful spikes and gravity-defying dives on custom-built courts.

The tournament promises a festival atmosphere. It blends world-class volleyball with Cape Town’s vibrant lifestyle.

Organisers have transformed the public beach into a state-of-the-art stadium, complete with a central court and a lively Fan Zone.

Attendees can enjoy local food stalls, pop-up bars, and live music between matches.

Leo Williams, a former South African volleyball star and the tournament organiser, expressed his pride in bringing the event back to his home turf.

“It’s poetic to bring this beautiful event back to Cape Town, Camps Bay. This is the very beach where I spent so many years perfecting my craft,” Williams said.
